Job Description

1. Identify the Jewish cultural needs for people we support across all settings in Norwood

2. Actively support people who choose to live a Jewish way of life across the wide range of religious observance, customs and practice, enabling them to make informed choices.

3. Improve access, inclusion and engagement with local Jewish communities.

4. Co-ordinate religious celebrations, event planning around Shabbat and Jewish festivals in partnership with the Norwood Services. Provide the Jewish way of life training and resources in partnership with colleagues, people we support and external agencies.

5. Organise and participate in Birthright/Israel programmes

6. Raise the profile of Norwood, the Jewish values and inclusive practice to the Jewish community and beyond developing relationships with communal organisations and other relevant stakeholders.

7. Develop collaborative partnerships across the Services

8. Produce evaluations, reviews and reports as required

9. Working in partnership with the Norwood Rabbi

Who Norwood Supports



o Training and mentoring individuals and staff teams.

o Experience of working in the Jewish Community preferably across different groups.

o Facilitation of person centred approaches.


o Experience of working with people who have learning disabilities.

o Project Management.




o Good Literacy and numeracy skills.


o Higher Education .


Knowledge & Skills


o Understanding of the Jewish Community .

o Knowledge of Kashrut.

o Understanding of learning disabilities .

o Commitment to an inclusive approach to service planning and delivery .

o Car driver/owner.

o Understanding and ability to support people with a range of communication and behavioural needs.

o Willingness to learn.

o Assertive and able to network positively .

o Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.

o Ability to work independently and creatively using own initiative .

o Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people (i.e. colleagues, families, other professionals, etc).
