Job Description

We are currently looking for support staff to work within both out our residential care homes and Supported Living services in London, Berkshire and Brighton.

We are looking for flexible people who genuinely enjoy working in social care and are enthusiastic about wanting to help others and to provide a high standard of care in an efficient, kind and respectful manner and to have an understanding of the issues facing those with learning disabilities and complex needs.

You will be required to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays

You should be able to demonstrate:

Flexibility, reliability and integrity

QCF (NVQ 2) qualifications in social care or the willingness to work towards this qualification

Listening and responsive skills

Approachable

Observant

Driving license and own transport desirable not but not essential

Full and ongoing training will be provided for this role

Qualifications

Working towards or having achieved NVQ in Care Level ll or QCF Level 2 dip.

 

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with other staff, residents, parents and other professionals.

Good numeracy and literacy skills.

Desirable

Clean driving licence and willingness to drive Norwood's vehicles.

 

Personal

Essential

Understanding of and ability to cope with needs of residents i.e. challenging behaviour, physical and emotional needs.

Ability to meet basic care needs of residents.

Ability to be self motivated and use personal initiative within a structured framework.

Ability to work under pressure.

Ability to show empathy and understanding towards residents.

Understanding/awareness of or willingness to learn about the Jewish culture.

Ability to work flexibly.

Must be physically fit.

Understanding/awareness of Equal Opportunities.

Desirable

Ability to support and participate in recreational activities inside and outside the home.
