Job Description

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To manage and develop the daily operations of Norwood's Family Support and Social Work Services through providing support and supervision to an excellent team of senior social workers and senior family support worker.

2. To lead the strategic and operational development of Norwood's Early Intervention Strategy in order to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families.

3. In collaboration with the Business Manager, to set agreed performance standards, set regular reporting processes and ensure that the service policies and procedures are embedded in a documented quality assurance framework which is reviewed regularly.

4. To provide KPI and Outcomes reports which will feed through to Directors and Trustees on a bi monthly basis.

5. In collaboration with the QA Officer to take lead in reviewing the current outcomes framework and apply changes where necessary ensuring that outcomes are captured, analysed and communicated in a way that supports learning and decision making.

6. To work closely with managers of other children services and contribute to the development and growth of Norwood's multidisciplinary service model.

7. To represent the organisation and build positive and influential relationships with key stakeholders/partners when appropriate, both at national and local level. In collaboration with the Head of Service to ensure that the work of Social Work is visible to the rest of the organisation and develop and maintain effective communication with managers and staff of other departments and other agencies.

8. To be responsible for preparing and maintaining the budgets of relevant teams. Control, monitor and forecast expenditure, taking remedial action as required to enable cost effective services to be provided within the allocated cash limits.

9. To be proactive in helping to maximise funding opportunities through statutory avenues as well as through promoting participation with the fundraising and communications department.

10. To lead on ensuring the social care services adhere to the principles of being a learning agency by providing leadership on the relevant policies and procedures, training and development requirements and opportunities, both internally and externally with HEI's (Higher Education Institutions) and responding to Government policy change and development.

General

1. To maintain standard of dress that is appropriate to role and in accordance with the organisation's dress policy.

2. To maintain confidentiality at all times and to ensure respect for, proper observance of and adherence to

4. To attend regular supervision sessions with line manager, regular team meetings and undertake relevant training as and when required.

5. To take all reasonable care of the health and safety of her/himself and of other persons who may be affected by her/his acts or omissions. As regards to any duty or requirement imposed upon the organisation by or under any of the relevant statutory provisions, to co-operate with the organisation as far as it necessary to enable that duty or requirement to be performed or complied with. To report to the Health and Safety Manager either serious risks or your concerns over safety issues.

6. To work collaboratively with volunteers to ensure that their contribution enhances quality of service provision and support across the organisation.

7. To work at any other Norwood location, as and when required.

8. To undertake any other duties which are consistent with the post.

Who Norwood Supports
 

Experience

Essential

o Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection issues.

o Substantial post qualification experience within Social Care including experience of working in multi-professional services in a social care setting in a voluntary or statutory setting at a strategic level.

o Experience of professional supervision, line management.

o Proven track record of middle/senior management experience.

o Experience of budget setting, monitoring and business planning.

o Proven track record of managing complex child care work.

o Knowledge and understanding of current issues on childcare and parenting .

o An awareness and understanding of the differing cultural and religious needs of the community.

o Experience of working in a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary environment.

o Knowledge of Health and Safety issues and legislation.

Desirable

o Reviewing existing services and change management.

o Project management experience.

 

Qualifications

Essential

o Recognised Social Work qualification and registered Social Worker with HCPC.

o Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Desirable

o Reviewing existing services and change management.

o Relevant Management qualification .

 

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

o Excellent knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative and policy frameworks and impact on service.

o Excellent knowledge and understanding of social work theories relating to child care services.

o Excellent report writing skills.

o Excellent knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding policies and procedures.

o Management of change, monitoring progress and evaluating impact within sound business planning principles.

o Effective financial management skills and ability to use and interpret data.

o Ability to lead, manage and motivate a team.

o Develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Desirable

o Member of appropriate professional body e.g. TCSW, BASW.
